Barb Gurganus and Linda Emmerson
Sometimes it takes a duo to make special things happen!

When Barb Gurganus lost her mother in 1999, the family wanted to have a special memorial placed at Heartland’s Senior Center in her honor.  They decided to ask local Nevada artist Linda Emmerson to create an intricate silhouette of Heartland, depicting its many facets.  The artwork has proudly hung in Heartland’s entryway in memory of Cara Ethington for the past 7 years.

Because Emmerson had so keenly researched her project, the image she created still captures the special spirit of Heartland today. Gurganus, now on the Heartland Board of Directors, asked Emmerson if the image could be reduced to notecard size and Emmerson agreed to do this at no charge.

Now, Heartland has beautiful notecards that are not only used in house as special thank you cards and invitations, but are for sale at the front office as a Heartland fundraiser, 8 cards for $5.

If you still have those holiday thank yous hanging over your head, or if you are looking for a special Valentine gift for a senior, consider Heartland’s new notecards as an innovative option.

Thank you, Linda and Barb, for making this fundraiser possible and for helping raise the awareness of our organization through creative collaboration.
