Public Relations & Volunteer Spotlight

Volunteer Spotlight

Thank you, Heartland Volunteers!

Outreach volunteer Michelle Hatch, Ames, represents just one of 941 Heartland volunteers who in the past fiscal year have given time and talents to support Story County older adults.

Heartland Senior Services thanks the 941 HSS volunteers who gave over 23,000 service hours this past fiscal year.  Theirs are the extra hands that expand our extensive services of Adult Day Care, Activities and Resource Programs, Congregate Meals, Home-Delivered Meals, Outreach Support and Transportation to reach approximately 3,000 seniors county-wide.  It is through volunteer support that Heartland’s services can remain affordable and of high quality for the residents of Story County.  Assigning a monetary value, our volunteers have given a quarter of a million dollars to Heartland’s operation!

Two new expanded areas of Heartland volunteerism this year are the Volunteer Driver Program and Hands for Heartland (special projects and events).  If you would like to be a part of the Heartland Volunteer Team, please call Marilyn Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator, at 233-2906.
